w4_Estimation of Water Projects Duration Using PERT_Thuraiya

Estimation of  Water Projects Duration Using PERT 1-       Problem identification: Water Projects must meet the Scheduled Commencement Operational Day as it planned to be on operation to meet the demand at that day. However, many projects are delivered later that what is scheduled. This blog studies the most suitable duration for constructing water project. 2-       Feasible Alternatives Currently we allow the developer to construct the project in 33 months so the feasible alternatives are: 1-       To keep the period of 33 months. 2-       To agree on the result of Pert analysis that will be shown in this blog. 3-       Development of the outcome of the alternatives PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique) is one of the successful and proven methods among the many other techniques. Using Pert Technique and based on Historical Da...

W7_Eman_Leadership Styles analysis Using Tuckman model 1.      Problem Definition As recommended by Dr. PDG and in W1 blog is to repeat the Bruce Tuckman 4 stage model for Future OPWP 2017 group in week 4. To see in which stage the team currently operating in and how accurate is my result of W1 blog. 2.      Identify the Feasible Alternative The 4-stage model Forming, Storming, Norming and Performing is published by Dr. Bruce Tuckman, then he added another stage called Adjourning. In order to be an effective manager, you should assess your team and see in which stage they fall. Beginning with a directing style, moving through coaching, then participating, finishing delegating and almost detached. At the end, the team will be able to produce a leader that can develop a new team. 3 .      Development of the Outcome for Alternative Future OPWP 2017 group should answers again all the 32 questions ...

W6_Eman_Using Decision Making to compare which better O&M with local contractor or global O&M contractor. 1.      Problem Definition In our company, we have 4 stages to develop a project: 1-     Planning stage 2-     Development stage 3-     Implementation stage 4-     Client & Contract Interface stage In development stage, it is mentioned to include the Operation and Maintenances (O&M) contractors but it is not necessary to be local, so the question is why the developer which is (project company) is not hiring a local contractor for O&M, so we will compare between two of them to know the answer to the question. 2.      Identify the Feasible Alternative These are the 2 alternatives: 1-     O&M contractors globally 2-     O&M with local contractors 3.      Development of th...

W4_Afra_Cost and Time Trade-Off Part 1

1.       Problem Recognition   There is a relationship between project’s completion time and its cost. By understanding the time-cost relationship, one is better able to predict the impact of a schedule change on project cost.  The purpose of this blog is to validate the cost & time trade-offs by using Module 08-7 in The GUILD which provides a great illustration that is based on the US Department of Transportation. This validation will be used on my paper to demonstrate that what was done can work in electricity and water sector. Figure 1 - Schedule vs Time Optimization From the figure, the owner's optimum duration and owner’s optimum is almost always different from the contractor. The question here is how to define this difference? By finding the difference between owner’s optimum cost (8) and contractors optimum duration (4) which intersect with Total cost curve this is what determines the incentives (I) fr...
